And We're Back!

It has been a couple of weeks since our last blog post.  Thanks for all of your well wishes as I was out sick for six days.  We have had an interesting time making up all of our assessments due to snow days and my absence. However, they have all been made up! Yay! Here are some things going on in our room.

Thank you so much for all of my wonderful Teacher Appreciation gifts.  Last week was truly a blessing. It feels so good to be appreciated!

It is now the fourth nine weeks. (I know I can't believe it either!) We are working on our fourth nine weeks AR goals. By Friday students should be at least  at 25 % of their AR goals. Kudos to the following students who are at 25% of their AR goals or higher.

Jabril     Ruth    Jana    Ethan   Layza   Gigi

Malik    Chaitra   DJ    Destiny

As the year begins to wine down, one very important thing is that all students master their multiplication tables. Many students still have not done so.  We are still taking time tests multiple times a week to encourage memorization of these facts. Please encourage your child to learn their time tables. It will be one of the most valuable skills that they will ever learn.

In class, we are busy as usual! I always tell the kids that we have "miles to go before we sleep." Here's what we are studying in class. In math, we are studying time to the nearest minute and figuring out elapsed time. In language arts, we are studying point of view. In science, we are learning about magnets.

Happy Read Across America Day!

Hello dear parents! I hope that you enjoyed all 6 six of our impromptu snow days! The snow has definitely caused us to make some changes. Here are a few updates for this week.  Please read below.

Next Wednesday, March 11, 2015 will be the end of the third nine weeks. It will also be the last day to make AR goals for the third nine weeks. Please check with your child to see what progress they need to make by next Wednesday. A special shout out to Kaylee. She has already met her goal for the third nine weeks. I am hoping that we will have more students to meet their goals as well.
